This is the Southern Pacific narrow gauge water tank at Laws, California that recently collapsed during restoration work. Much discussion about how best to repair it, but sounds like they want to do it properly.

It has been more years ago than I want to remember that Vance Dickenson, Kyle Wyatt and I went to Laws to inspect the structures there and recommend preservation strategies. The consensus was that the structural ship of the tank had probably sailed long before our visit. Of all of us I was the only one brainstorming off the wall temporary stabilization strategies (such as filling it with expandable foam) but nothing would have prevented its loss apart from a substantial reconstruction. I recall something about a company that built wine vats proposing a replica for what seemed a reasonable price, sorry something wasn't done about it. Of course, they have been busy with the great job on the Brill car. Just hope it is well enough documented that an accurate replication can be done.
