Any progress reports from Rochester, NY regarding the proposed vintage trolley line along the shore of Lake Ontario and preservation of the Hojak swing bridge over the Genessee River? Website <www.rochestertrolley.com> is not current. Sloan |

It was never more than a pipe dream by one or two individuals. As far as I know, planning never got beyond building a webpage. the original Hojack ROW no longer exists, houses are in the way of the proposed route. sorry, but it will never happen.. Scot (im not a pessimist, im a realist..I would love to see it happen! but it goes against all reality..) |

There are two groups, both still active, trying to bring light rail and/or trolleys to Rochester. Four years ago we helped the Rochester Rail Transit Committee evaluate the feasibility of a light rail starter system. We were able to document that a system could be built for only about $4,000,000 per mile, much less than other estimates. Below are their web site links: http://www.ggw.org/rrtc/ http://www.rochestertrolley.org/ These are both a long way from being reality, but we think great visionary efforts.
