McCloud Railway ran notices of intent to abandon it's entire railroad in local newspapers earlier this week.

All trackage east of McCloud (the mainline from McCloud to Burney plus the Sierra, Pondosa and Hambone branches) are to be abandoned and removed. Common carrier operations will be discontinued on the McCloud-Mt Shasta City portion of the line, with that trackage coverted to "industrial" trackage.

The official abandonment application is expected to be filed with the STB on or around 31 March.
