Last survivor of the famous Death Valley Scotty race from California to Chicago, Santa Fe 1010 was painted in this wild red scheme by the railroad for some forgotten event in the 1960s. Now at Sacramento, mercifully painted black.

This engine looks like a sister to TSRR #500 which will be back running someday.

TSR500 is a 4-6-2, the 1010 is a 2-6-2.

It's too bad that the TSR doesn't paint their locomotives in their original paint scheme. They have some really great locomotives.
