Does anyone have contact information for the J.L Howard Company? If so I'd appreciate if you could post it.

Thanks,

J. L. Howard was in Connecticut the last that I knew. I have not seen a Pocket List of Railroad Officials in some years, but Howard used to advertise and list in it.

Many years ago I ordered some coach keys for Orange Empire Ry Museum through R. B. Hornberger Company and the keys we received came from J. L. Howard.

Hornberger is now in Oregon (when the father ran the business it was in the San Francisco area) and reps a number of track tool companies, etc. You might try working though Hornberger. It is in Forest Grove and I find two phone numbers (503) 357-8931: or (503) 357-7554 listed for them; the 7554 number may be a fax line.

Richard,

My prior response was from my work site. Today I spent time at home on you inquiry. After searching around the web I find that there are current specifications that name the Howard company as a supplier.

Besides known as J. L. Howard the firm is also listed as James L. Howard & Co.

A search of the Super Yellow Pages results in the following:
Howard James L & CO
10 Britton Drive, Bloomfield, CT 06002
(860) 242-3581

The listing indicates that the yellow page listing is under furniture hardware manufactures.

So I pulled out an old Pocket List -- this is the same listing as in a 1995 Pocket List, except for the update of the area code.

Bloomfield is adjacent to Hartford. Older references to the company is that it was located in Hartford.

Thanks - those area code changed have caused many problems in locating long-established companies!

Thanks again,

Richard
