Still here at the Elgin County Railway Museum in St. Thomas, Ontario. There has been some serious interest in the locomotive lately, but nothing in stone yet.

Here's one that really seems to have fallen off the proverbial radar...what ever came of Reading 2100? I know she was up for sale, was there ever any outcome of that, or did she just not sell? Granted she's big for most tourist lines, but it's always a shame to see a big servicable engine all dressed up with nowhere to go. Thanks everyone! |

| Post subject: | What is the appetite for large steam ops in Canada? |
Okay, CPR is feeding the hunger for operating big steam. Reading the above posts regarding the Elgin Musuem, it would seem that CNR 5103, another Hudson, and dressed in glorious CN green, would be a fabulous loco to restore. Any thoughts on CN pulling another locomotive off the shelf for such a service? Why did they drop the 4-8-2 after such a successful run of popular excursions? |

What appetite? There are only two large locomotives currently operating semi regularly in Canada. 2816 and 6060, which is only operating on a short branchline out of Stettler, Alberta at the moment. 2100 hasn't left the property in at least 5 years. The engine you see in the background is CN 5700 (a.k.a. 5703), not 5103. The 4-8-2 you are referring to...I assume you mean 6060? As I said, it is still in operating condition in Alberta.

any chance of seeing one of these Canadian steamers at the National Connvention in Dennison in 2006? |
