What is the origin of the term "Sykes" to describe this car?

The Sykes Co. (Winthrop Harbor, Illinois) was on the doodlebug scene for a short period (1923-1928). They only sold 30 power cars and 14 trailer cars. They contracted with St. Louis Car Co. to build these units. Sykes employed a Sterling marine gas engine (225 and 245 hp).

Production of Sykes cars ended in 1928 with a motor-and-two-trailer set built for the Oklahoma City, Ada & Atoka Railway. The car we have for sale is the motor car from this set.

Didn't the Delaware Otsego have the body of one of the New York Ontario and Western Sykes cars in the recent past? Is anyone here cognizant of its current status?
