Post subject:  Nashville-Atlanta Steam Railroad circa 1900-1930s

This may seem like an odd info request. I'm researching my family genealogy. My grandfather died before WWII, leaving his pregnant wife and 5 children in LA. None ever knew his family in Nashville, TN. His father/my great-grandfather, Eugene Arthur Hibbett, is listed in the 1920 and 1930 censuses as being employed by the "Steam Railroad Co." He was originally in Nashville and received a promotion to "Trainmaster" and moved sometime during the mid-1920s to Atlanta, where he retired and lived until his death in 1957. This is probably a silly question, but I know nothing about trains and have been unsuccessful in locating any info by that company name...what was the actual train company name/line, etc., that had routes between Nashville, TN and Atlanta, GA during that time period? Any info or further links would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

Some likely possibilities:
Western & Atlantic Railroad Co.
Nashville, Chattanooga, & St. Louis Railroad
Georgia Railroad and Banking Co.
Louisville & Nashville Railroad

All are part of today's CSX Corporation. There's more info on the company website.
