Good evening - I am brand new here. For my initial post, I just wanted to know the status of the WMSR. Do they expect to have the 1309 operational this Fall (as their website suggests)? Is there a projected date as to when they will be returning to downtown Frostburg? Should we read anything into the change in leadership of the Foundation? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Latest word is they hope to reassemble it this December and be ready for the 2017 season. There was a recent TRAINS blog about the WMSR which I believe you can read without being a subscriber. The link is

Welcome to RyPN. All steam restorations share a common denominator. There's no way of telling how long it will take nor how much it will cost UNTIL it's finished and all the gremlins have been discovered and fixed.

As to the 1309 my read is that Kevin Rice and his team are making steady progress and so far have not encountered anything that would halt them short of the goal of restoring her to service. My WAG would be that with reasonable luck she should be back in service the 3rd. or 4th. quarter of 2017 ??

These things take time and patience. As the late Dante Porta was fond of saying.....3 women can't make a baby in 3 months !!!
