The Missoula Street Railway Company of Missoula Montana has generally been credited as being the first system to operate one man cars. Interurban #50 is the sole survivor of the fleet (and the only interurban of the MSRC fleet). The Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, a county funded history museum, has funded the cosmetic/structural restoration of #50 and is building a carbarn to display the car in upon its return. If you think your hulks are not worth the work, look at this site. http://www.fortmissoulamuseum.org/Streetcar.htm |

WOW! Excellent job. That car is looking sharp compared to the photos I saw when y'all visited Dallas. Have you found running gear yet - what kind of trucks was the car originally equipped with? I think my Aunt and Uncle live near Hamilton. This is all the more reason to get up to Montana for a visit. |

Mike - Is Mac Palmer invloved with the car restoration? Mac and his wife moved to Missoula from the D.C. area several years ago. Tell him I said hello! Wesley Paulson |

The car looke a lot like the Hershey, Pa. cars. They had Brill 27MCB trucks, as did similar cars in Reading and Harrisburg. |
