Well, we can finally rip the "fate of 614" off the pile of "FAQs" to post here someday.

Word reached us this morning that an agreement has been reached between CO614.com and the Reading & Northern to transfer ownership of Chesapeake & Ohio 614 to the Reading & Northern. As part of the deal, now-former 614 owner Ross Rowland receives an Aster G-scale live steam model of a C&O Allegheny.

The Reading & Northern has drafted plans to remove the boiler from 614 and reserve it as a spare for Reading 2102, with the 614 being re-equipped with two EMD 645 engines from recently-acquired ex-UP/MP SD50's, to be linked to the drivers via direct-drive chain. One of the engineless, demotored SD50's has been promised to the Missouri Pacific Technical & Historical Society, to be displayed in Little Rock, Arkansas underneath the Clinton Presidential Library.
