Man, why didn't *I* ever think of this scheme...........

HIT Entertainment has announced a five-year lease of "the world's second most famous steam locomotive" (after their "Thomas", of course), London & North Eastern Railway 4472 "Flying Scotsman", from the National Railway Museum of York, England. The intention is to reconfigure the locomotive to match Henry the Green Engine. "What made this especially advantageous was that we are able to do this simply with some paint on the front buffer and cabside and the replacement of the nameplates [to be retained for safekeeping by the NRM]," said HIT spokesman S.T. Hatt.

"It was simply time to give little Thomas a hand from one of his friends," Hatt said, noting the serious underpowering of Thomas at past Day Out with Thomas events. HIT hoped to operate "Henry" at the railroads with direct connections to the main system, and send her under steam from location to location. HIT admitted that they had not consulted with the major railroads for permission, but said "How can they not take advantage of all the free publicity? Thousands will line the tracks to see one of Thomas' friends chug by!"

The North American Chapter of the Gresley Society immediately petitioned HIT to let 4472 run at least part of its tour in LNER colors, but the reply of Hatt was "Such a move would be contradictory to our company goals. Besides, we understand they had ample opportunity to see her in those colours from 1969 to 1972 when she previously visited the States."

It was hoped that shipping could be arranged in time for the locomotive to put in an appearance at the "Day Out with Thomas" events at either the Henry Ford Museum or the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in April.

Hey the Flying Scotsman would make a great Henry...

unless you wanted to paint it Blue and call it Gordon.
Me I prefer Edward myself or BOCO too..
But that is another story.

Hey Gary,
We dont need the Flying Scotsman brought over. Lets just Paint up the 1218 as Gordon and use it....
Though Gordon isnt articulated.
