Nice job and nice article. I have to say that Im puzzled
(to some extent) that after such an effort the engine
is still exposed to the elements and all that hard work
is headed downhill the minute they finish.
At this stage in the game, isnt the idea of a 'park
engine' about over? Hey, the thing is made of metal
and wood!
A pole building or at least a roof really is required.

You are correct about the potentiaal for deterioration. The city officer in charge of the rebuild project is aware of these issues however others in the city feel/fear that putting a building of any sort would detract from the photogenic qualities of the equipment. Hopefully someday though.
