From the Historic Sierra Railway list:

Today in Sierra History

Date: Monday, April 18, 2005
Time: All Day

1906: San Francisco is struck by a massive earthquake; the
Sierra's founders sustain heavy losses. (This also marks the
'ceremonial' last day of construction on the Yosemite Short
Line...)
1955: Loco #38 closes out the SRR's steam freight era, pulling
train #4 from Oakdale to Jamestown. Deisels #40 & #42 make the
return trip

I hope someday the 38 can come home to Jamestown and be reassembled. Did it move up to Oregon as planned or is it still in McCloud, California?
