I was just up too the Edaville web site,,,,because of houseing,, at South Carver,,,,the railroad is about too lose,,,,at lot of track... Edaville once had a 5/1/2 loop,,,on which too ride,,,,,this will be cut down,,too a 2 mile loop,,,with a small spur track.....basically everything from Mt,Urann too just about Edaville AVE will go.... If you would like too see the current plan for this go too,,,their web site,,,and friends of Edaville,,,,photos,,,go too what's new...???? |

The plan last I heard was to leave the right leg of the loop on the reservoir (up to the beginning of 'Mt. Urann') in place for now; the other side will be completely removed. The housing development already on Meadow Street was to expand to cover an area that was occupied by the RR. The original plan to relocate the tracks closer to the reservoir dealt with wetlands permits, and its requirements were something Edaville wasn't able to do. This as of Feb. '05 |

Pat, I was able to ride the line in the "old" days vewfore that 1993 closure and later in the 1990s. We can just be glad the park is still with us in any form. So many parks with steam trains are long gone: Freedomland and Pleasure Island that used Atwood equipment, then Steam Village that was also two foot. I also have post cards of more than 20 "Wild West Towns" that used steam as part of the package. Edaville is going to sell their last three pieces of antique Maine equipment, heard any more on that?
