D&IR 3

At Two Harbors, Minnesota, October 3, 1934. It is now under shelter with the Yellowstone 2-8-8-4 there. Recent word from Two Harbors is that the big DM&IR roundhouse and backshop are still standing. Apparently the city thinks they are too expensive to tear down.

Sorry did not notice the early-50s Buick in the background. Definitely not 1934 like the back of the photo said. Other than being owned by CN like the DM&IR is, there isn't much relation between Stevens Point and Two Harbors. The Stevens Point round house is said to be one of only two remaining (original) Soo Line roundhouses that are complete, without any portions razed. Until a dozen or so years ago, it looked much as it did in the steam age, but has since been modernized.
