I always find is amazing that people not in the railroad business, think it would be no problem to put back track, if the need arrises once it is removed. The cost to put the railroad back will far exceed the proceeds of scrapping the material.

What I find interesting is that the same people who wanted this line ripped up for environmental concerns are the same people who fought (and won) to keep the Aspen Airport open and expanded.

It seems to be the present M/O craze for these people to go the owning governmental body and ask for money for a trail, and when the g'ment says they are broke, the trailies say "If you give us the rail to scrap to fund our trail, we will never bother you for any more money". See Vermont and Western Maryland.

Yeah, these are the same idiots who foolishly believe we live in a world of free unlimited energy and that railroads will never be needed again.
