New list for EL surviving locomotives!
one had never been assembled all in one list before.

Im posting it here on RYPN because there are several good preservation canidates on that list, especially the SDP45 in Pittston.
And one SD45-2 was just retired by CSX..the rest cant be far behind.

There are plenty more DL&W, Erie and EL units to add...

DL&W SC #426 on the D-L in Scranton

DL&W HH660 #409 Behr Port of Indiana, Portage, Indiana.

There is at least one more, if not two more, DL&W HH660's out there.

There's a Vulcan 0-4-0 in Oregon from the coal ops, though it was officialy a DL&W locomotive

EL SW9 #428 is in the URHS collection and on lease for restoration to SMS

Scotty, maybe you are only intending to follow E-L equipment, not merely predecessors, so D-L 426, (ex-DL&W 426) a 30's EMC switcher shouldn't be on the list, but ex REL 603, Ex EL (Don't remember E-L no.) Ex DL&W 409, an ALCO HH-660 was sold to a scapper (for use as I remember not destruction) by REL about two years ago. The engine was profiled on a site dedicated to Yard Goats (Yard Limits?) until the sale.

I am too busy keeping tabs on EL passenger equipment - I usually rely on others to cover the diesels (to say nothing of freight cars, cabooses and marine equipment).

However, didn't a couple of GP9's end up in Conrail's GP10 rebuild program? Are any of them still around?

Looks pretty good. Don't forget DL&W 3001, the GE-IR boxcab switcher owned by the Illinois Railway Museum. Also, just out of curiosity, what is the distinction between locomotives "stored" at museums (like 952 at MOT) and locomotives "preserved" at museums (like the SD45 at MOT and the SDP45 at Roanoke)?

IMO, if it belongs to a museum, it is "preserved"..although a lot of engines arent showing much in the way of "preservation" and maybe "stored" would be more accurate..but im not going to try to make that kind of distinction for a list like this..

I started this list because im a huge EL fan, and I hadnt seen a page anywhere that listed all the known survivors..

A few years ago people would always be asking about survivng LV engines on the various internet forums.
"What LV engines are still out there?"
"well, The GP38-2's shold still be on the D&H"
"I think the R&N has some LV switchers"
"I heard a U23B was still running somewhere"
etc..
a meager list would be made in a specific thread.
a year or two would go by, then someone would ask the question again..
"well, I think the GP38AC's might have gone to NS from conrail, not sure.."
etc etc.

so I decieded to do something about all the guesswork! ;)
I like to KNOW where my favorite engines are!
I dont want to guess..
and..the LV survivors page helped to preserve a LV U23B!
because of the survivors list, the Sayre Historical Society "found" the Uboat and got to work bringing it home!

Small correction, Mr. Hicks - the DL&W 952 is not "stored" at MOT. Following the completion in 2002 of nearly four years of work that carefully blended elements of conservation and restoration, the 952 is exhibited and interpreted under roof at the Museum of Transportation.
