Post subject:  Slide vs. Piston Valves

It seems to me that piston valves came into being around the time of superheating primarily due to the fact that the drier steam created lubrication problems for the slide valves. Turning it around, are there any non-superheated locomotives equipped with piston valves or would this create problems in a saturated steam cylinder?

Thanks.
