Dave , they say they are operational!They started at $7,000 , then $5,000,$2,300,and lately as low as $250!!!!!!!!!!!Chris you are correct on that they are old US army cars.I would like to know if they are so cheap , and are they able to be pulled out of there siding(s) or storage spot?!?

Aaron, there is operational and operational. the friction bearings effectively prohibit movement by CSX or NS, making trucking the most reasonable option unless you have some roller bearing equipped boxcar trucks available to change out.

Since Charleston isn't far from Savannah, I am interested in a couple for storage and display IF they are of a reasonably truckable size and weight. The number of them suggests scrapping of some is inevitable which could make brake and truck parts available for moore unique preserved carbodies needing hardware.
