| Post subject: | IC dome moves |
Sounds like the badly vandalized ex-Illinois Central dome car that sat a number of years at Dodge City, Kansas has moved. This was planned for use by the now-defunct DCF&B tourist RR there, but never used: About 3 weeks ago, saw one of the ex-IC domes pass through my hometown of Lewis, KS on the BNSF Local #12. It was at the tailend. I had been originally purchased for use on the ex-RI branch, later the Dodge City, Ford & Bucklin RR. The latter never did get it restored. When they sold out, an individual in Dodge City bought it and planned to have it restored and to sit near the ex-AT&SF freighthouse which he made into the Freighthouse Steakhouse. This structure later was burned badly as was another IC car that was attached to the structure. Evidently, this latter owner has decided to sell this car. I have no knowledge where it was headed, but the last I heard it was seen in Newton, KS in the BNSF yards. I don't know the IC car number, but it was a smooth sided center dome.
