New Hampshire's Conway Scenic RR reportly has acquired a pair of GE B23-7's that formerly worked for the Quincy Bay Terminal; since the QBT's demise several years ago, the unit's have been stored on the New Hampshire Central RR at North Stratford, NH. One unit (ex-QBT #21) has been used sporadically by the NHCR as well as the St. Lawrence & Atlantic. NHCR will be delievering the units to the CSRR "within the next couple of weeks"--as soon as the CSRR's ex-MEC GP-7 #573 returns from Winter work at Guilford Trasnportation's Waterville, ME shop. The B23-7's will replace a pair of ex-CN FP7-A's on the Crawford Notch Line excursions. The plan appears to be to use one B23-7 at a time, instead of using two units as has been the case with the F's. The GE's also reportedly have dynnamic brakes--which the CSRR has desired for some time for it's excursions on the heavily-graded ex-MEC line through Crawford Notch in the scenic White Mountains region. |

What route would these units take to get onto Conway maintained trackage? What is the condition? |
