Concerning the eviction of the B&ML from the Belfast waterfront:

I'm curious if any of these structures were ever placed or nominated for the state and national registers? It would seem that, if they had been, the city (being a public entity) would have a harder time evicting the railroad and demolishing the buildings. This is a real shame. The railroad will probably remain in some form, operating from its non-historic terminal at Unity, but the real history of the B&ML will be lost to greedy developers.

Apparently the Montreal, Maine, and Atlantic has decided to sell the old Northern Maine Junction roundhouse to a local trucking firm as a garage. There is a lovely old turntable sitting in front of it. same as there is in front of the Belfast engine house. Might someone be interested?

Anyone know the length of the Northern Maine Jct. turntable?
