When did NYC shrink the drivers on this engine? I know they were originally monstrous in size

The new, smaller, drivers were installed very quickly after she made her famous high speed run.
the original huge drivers were intended *only* for speed..she was designed and built to make her speed record!
but those drivers were no good for regular service..
I dont know exactly when, but I would guess the smaller drivers were added within weeks or months after she was built..as soon as she finished her touring as a celebrity, and went into the regular NYC ananomous work horse fleet..
