The 30 was used mainly on the difficult Angels Camp Branch, sold to the Howard Terminal in Oakland about 1937, where it became a 2-6-2T. It is under repair today on the Niles Canyon Railway, to become a tender engine again. The 38 worked only between 1952 and 1955 on the Sierra, before being sold to Rayonier in Washington.
