I know current events in the modern railroad world (common carrier at least) are not usually discussed but I think this might merit discussion. This morning Canadian Nation moved to but Wisconsin Central. As most of you know, WC is haven for many aging EMD enignes that do not fit in to CN's motive power's plans (SD24s, SD45s, SDL39s, GP35s and F9s).

In a disscussion on another board someone suggested that because this merger might face opposition from the STB and shipper alike, CN might make stipulation for the merger and do some things for communites (like fall foilage trips on the UP of michigan and keeping the AC canyon trains). Also included in this was donating engines to NRM and few other museums.

It might be a longshot and I know many museums are just trying to figure out how to stabilize existing collections, but keep your eyes and ears open for opperntunities.
