How the controls are set up for the engine crew. Are the controls relocated to allow the crew to see where they are going instead of where they have been like having the seatboxes moved towards the tender? Are the crewmen on the same side as normal or reversed on account of the locomotive being turned around? rldewley@juno.com |

From pictures that I recall seeing, the engines were set up with the crew facing forward (toward the flat face of the front of the cab). The Engineer was located on the right of the cab facing foward. One Cab Forward remains and it is in California State Railroad Museum. Was there two weeks ago, but did not go up inside the open cab. They have a stairway so visitors can go inside and they have a video screen for those who cannot go up the stairs. Brian Norden bnorden@gateway.net |
