Anybody know what is happening with Ex Reader RR 2 6 2 No 11. Is it still stored in Kentucky after its Hartwell Ga Service?

As far as I know its still on the siding outside of Paris, Kentucky. From what I understand the group that operated it(Kentucky Central Chapter, NRHS)was unable to operate it on the TTI after 1993 since CSX took over the operation once again, and it changed the policy and insurance situation. I was lucky enough to see and ride behind this engine in 1963 on the Reader RR, and see it several times in Kentucky. The Santa trains they ran once each December were pretty impressive. We did get some footage of her in action in Great Steam Trains - Vol 2, and in Choo Choo Christmas. Both instances were Santa runs, and the later being in snow. #11 always put on a good show, and we regret that it no longer operates in Kentucky. Have heard rumors of it going elsewhere, but nothing solid has happened. Others closer to the group may know more.

I have not confirmed it first hand, but a trusted source has told me that the switch to the siding that the Kentucky Central equipment resides on was taken out a couple of years ago. I did see Number 11 last April(?) and she was not looking good. The tarp she was under had come loose and was waving in the wind, exposing her to the elements. In fact, all the KC equipment is sadly just setting there rusting away. An example is, for those who know the roster, is the ex-military diesel's knuckle has a tree growing through it.

Personally, to me, a good idea would be for the KC group to look at merging with the Bluegrass Railroad Museum. Bluegrass has begun to clean up act and is aiming toward becoming a premier museum. It could put the KC equipment to excellent use instead of letting it set and rust away. The KC, in return, would get a permanent home to store and run equipment, including #11, without having to be dependent on another railroad. Alas, it is unfortunate that due to personality conflicts, this merger idea will stay a dream.

The president used to be Dr. Wesley Ross if I remember correctly. I think he lived in the Lexington area. It has been a few years so I am not up to speed on any of this.
