Post subject:  PNW earthquake

My thoughts are toward our rail preservation friends and their family in the Pacific Northwest. In viewing the USGS map, it appears the epicenter was 20-30 miles away from the Mt. Rainer RR operation. I believe there are other similar tourist rail operations in that area.

In 1989, the infamous Bay Area world series earthquake slightly rolled the display rails underneath our SP 4-6-2 #2479, causing the locomotive to list noticibly. (I wonder if FEMA would have paid for a FULL restoration?) We must respect ol' mother nature!

Best wishes to our PNW friends!
Ken
