Post subject:  Buffalo, Wyoming locomotive

As to the locomotive posted in today's brief, I can remember seeing it for the first time in 1968 when it was located on the original right of way in a field south of Buffalo. It was still there in 1971. Until it was moved into a park in Buffalo it slowly lost it's component parts over the years. Just about anything that could be removed with a torch was. According to local folk lore it was returning to Buffalo low on steam pressure and ran out of water there and dropped it's crown sheet. There wasn't enough pressure to cause an explosion, but enough to disable the locomotive. It was just left there where it died.
