Does anybody know what locmotive manufacturers built U.S.A.T.C S-160s during World War II. I know Baldwing built quite a few, and I was just wondering if more were built by ohter builders.

All three builders were involved, Baldwin, ALCo, and Lima. There is an excellent article in Vol.1 number 4.Sept-Oct,1986, Locomotive and railway preservation.page 42. Hope this helps.....Jerry

The book "Allied Military Locomotives of the Second World War" by R. Tourret includes a chapter about the 2-8-0s. He says that it appears that 2120 locomotives of this design were built. Similar 2-8-0s were built as class S162 and S166 for Russia and S161 to Jamaica.
