The June 1995 accident and repair did include a boiler inspection and hydro. The cylinders,valve chest and dry pipe was also hydrostatic tested and no exceptions were taken. The locomotive had been operating on tubes and flues applied in the 1940s,and it is the best first candidate for compliance work. #40 will be taken out of service when the #93 is complete.In addition #93 supports a new engine truck frame,new upper front frame rails, new center casting, pilot beam and many other items damaged in the accident. dsl4soc@aol.com |
