If you have not seen the May 2001 issue of TRAINS Mag, you need to get one!

As a volunteer coordinator, I have to say that I have watched the C&TS with great interest. Even as a younger RRer I was always interested in what the "friends" did and have done.

As I have gotten older, I have been able to work with the likes of John Craft and Terri Shaw. WOW!

No really WOW, if you think you have a volunteer program, take a closer look. How many of your volunteers travel as far as the friends?

Many of the "old timers" from C&TS are with us ofetn on RYPN......They know who they are and so do many of us!

No, this is not a suck-up to the C&TS or a "I wish I could be you.....It is simply one little hat taken off to all of the "friends" that have worked so hard to keep things a-float. Trust me, I went and saw what was going on, and it was not good. I look forward to going back. Even better is the fact that many of the "old timers" Dan Ranger and the sorts are going back too. Bright Future? You bet. Keep it up guys! You are all heros of mine.

By the way, all of you out there that donate time or money or supplies or whatever, my hat comes off to you as well. I am blessed to work with some 45 of what I consider to be the very best volunteers. The cool part is, I know that there are many more of you out there.

Next time you stop by your local RR or tourist line, ask yourself, what can I do to help? Be a friend and turn your little line into a success story, just as all of the friends at C&TS, the NN and so many, many others have done!
