The Smithsonian has a very large collection of Pullman Negatives. It reports it has over 13,000 negatives taken mainly between 1888 and 1932. These include passenger and freight cars. I last saw a list of catalogs of this and other railroad photo collections was back in 1995. The Pullman Library at IRM consists largely of Pullman drawings, only, with few if any photos. The process of indexing and preserving these drawings is ongoing. As a PS I believe the freight car drawings and information went to what is now Trinity Industries when they purchased the patents and designs for the freight car business. The Pullman Library is accessable only by appointment, well in advance, at this time due to the busy schedules of the volunteers manning this dept at IRM. We may not be of much help in locating photos of the cars in question. 68trolley@home.com |
