Post subject: Has a boiler expert gotten to Roanoke locos?

When Strasburg picked up their 4-8-0, I was told they looked over the other "Lost Roanoke engines". I have high degree of respect for the Strasburg people. Did they come to any kind of evaluation of the remaining four N&W steamers on the VSIM site? Obviously they would need heavy repairs, but these four engine would scratch a lot of itches for N&W and PRR fans (C'mon guys, they do look a great deal like Pennsy steamers!). The Roanoke locos get under your skin and keep surfacing to your consciousness.

The #475 was at Boone, Iowa when it was inspected and purchased by Strasburg. No one from from the railroad ever looked at the engines at Roanoke.
