Post subject:  Andy Clyde Steam RR Movie Short

I remember an Andy Clyde(lanky oldcomedian with a walrus mustache) short comedy from the VERY early sound era in which he is a rocket scientist who inherits a shortline. the old engine was some kind of cabbaged up thing with only a single set of drivers(it was not, as i recall the CP Huntington). When it broke down, they strapped a rocket to the cab roof. Anybody else remember it or know where a copy could be had? I havent seen it on TV in nearly 30 years and it hasn't shown up on any of the Vintage Station either

The movie is "The Cannonball." It was released in 1931 by Mack Sennet Studios, directed by Del Lord (who later directed 3 Stooges shorts).

The storyline, such as it is, has Andy fixing a rocket to the roof of his locomotive to win a race with a bus.

I doubt that it was ever put on video.

Sorry, can't help you with that. All I was able to find was the basics on the movie.
