Post subject: Old Passenger Cars Sited
PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2001 9:14 pm

Over the weekend I was in the East St. Louis area and saw a small yard filled with old passender cars. I couldn't stop and only got an over the shoulder glance but it looked like several pre-Amtrak cars. I noticed at least one observation and one streamlined end car.

The yard is located a few miles north of the Gateway International racetrack. Does anyone know what's up with these cars?

Thank you.

What you probably saw was the site and shops of the Illinois Transit Assembly Corp. It is a private shop that works on railroad passenger cars, and also acts as a broker and a seller of such equipment.

That was it. The main picture on the website looks like the cars I saw. Thanks for the response!
