 Post subject: CN 3254 update
PostPosted: Thu May 10, 2001 9:22 am

3254 is still getting some minor bugs worked out of her, and she comes up for her 30-day boiler wash next week. It still remains to be seen if 3254 (or a diesel) will be pulling the train on Friday to Tobyhanna and the yard shuttles on the weekend.

Now you ask, what train on Friday?
On Friday, May 18, Steamtown will be running a train to Tobyhanna. This trip is mainly for school groups who will then be bused to Tobyhanna Army Depot for their annual open house. They will then be bused back to the train and return to Steamtown.
The trip has recently been opened up to the public.
The Facts: Tickets are $12 for adults. Train boards at Steamtown 8:30am, departs Steamtown 9:00am, Returns to Steamtown around 2:30pm (not sure when it departs Tobyhanna). NO GUARANTEE that 3254 will pull the train. It might be a diesel.
Remember, there will be allot of noisy kids on the train. Some of the kids and teachers might spill over into the cars for the public.

Call 570-340-5204 or 1-888-693-9391, ext. 5204 to purchase your ticket(s). There will be very long lines Friday morning as the tickets are printed for the school groups, so it would be best to purchase and pay your tickets in advance and have the tickets held for you at the ticket office (ticket office opens at 8:00am May 18).

Now for Saturday. The WWII re-enactors and encampment and vehicles will still be on site. Re-enactors will be riding the yard shuttles. No fee to visit the encampment, but normal museum fees apply to see inside WWII and other military exhibits and ride the shuttle.

Night photo shot is still on (starts around 9:00pm) and barring any weather problems it WILL NOT be canceled. The photo shot is being co-sponsored by the L&WV chapter NRHS [www.laurellines.org] and Railfan & Railroad magazine. (if even only one ticket is sold, it will be held!) Tickets ($15.00) can be purchased before and during the photo shot. Tickets cannot be purchased through Steamtown. All proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the restoration fund for the B&M 3713.
