The Rock Island was noted for sampling diesel engines from nearly every builder, with usually just a few of the oddballs in each class. Amazingly, one of the RI Baldwin switchers has survived and is said to be for sale at Glover, MO. It is former RI 758, built as BLW demo. 1200. The unit retains its friction bearing trucks and would need to be temporarily re-trucked or shipped via flatcar for movement. This info. is from the Rock Island Technical Society's discussion list.
