From the Historic Sierra Railway list:Today in Sierra History Date: Friday, May 20, 2005 Time: All Day1918: The Turnback Inn, built by SRY co-founder T.S. Bullock,is destroyed by fire1929: SRY loco #3 is used in the filming of The Virginian, thefirst Hollywood "talkie" filmed away from a studio locationOld No. 3 is still undergoing a slow repair in the same Jamestown enginehouse that repaired it for movie work in 1929, and should eventually steam in more movies again. A lot has happened since 1929, but it is nice to know Jamestown and old No. 3 are about the same today as then. |
