I don't think this has been posted here, yet. Their seems to be a "Friends of the 470" group formed up in Waterville, ME to attend to the needs of the often-discussed and much neglected Maine Central pacific.I wish them well.http://www.waterville-me.gov/470.htm

I just wrote the group via their website, explaining the basics of journal polishing and greasing before movement and a few other items. Whether or not they reply may give an indication of whether they are really serious about restoration or just a community betterment group that thinks it can make the engine pretty in a few weekends.

I emailed the group earlier as well, here is a reply-Hi Mr. Blay,You are right - we are looking to cosmetically restore the engine,put a roof over her and have a museum on Steam engines!! Bids rangefrom $200,000 to $500,000. We want to do it right so we are taking ourtime to investigate and if the city will agree with our proposals westart rolling.
