Guys, I hate to take space with this, but I was sent the following message, which in fact uncovered a virus on my computer and I was able to eliminate it. It takes effect June 1, so do something right away to check it out. Below is the text I received that gives you the prompts to follow. Now back to your regular scheduled stuff!
Greg Scholl
--------------------------------------------------

This virus alert comes from the Air Canada Pilots
Association. I found
three copies of the virus on my PC. I strongly recommend
you follow the
instructions below.

Remember to empty the Recycle Bin as well as per these
instructions. Sorry
for the problem...

==================================Note from Mark Watt:

It has come to our attention that many of you may have a
VIRUS on your
computer that has not been activated yet but will be by
June1. The bad part
is you need to contact everyone you have sent ANY e-mail to
in the last few
months.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE. THIS VIRUS TRAVELS
THROUGH E-MAIL
AND MIGRATES TO THE @:windowscommand folder.

TO FIND IT AND DELETE FROM YOUR COMPUTER do the following:

GO TO START BUTTON
GO TO FIND OR SEARCH
GO TO FILES AND FOLDERS
MAKE SURE THE FIND BOX IS SEARCHING THE ' C' DRIVE
TYPE : SULFNBK.EXE
BEGIN SEARCH. IF IT FINDS THE VIRUS ON YOUR COMPUTER,
HIGHLIGHT IT AND PRESS
THE DELETE KEY ON KEYBOARD. CLOSE THE FIND DIALOG BOX.

IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU NOW CHECK THE RECYCLE BIN< BECAUSE
IT ALSO
SHOWED UP IN THAT LOCATION.

OPEN RECYCLE BIN. FIND THE FILE AND DELETE IT FROM THE
RECYCLE BIN.

Do not rely on your Anti-virus software like McAFEE, NOR
NORTON, ETC.,
because they cannot detect it because it does not become a
virus until JUNE
1, then whatever you do do not open the file. I must stress
that so
far tonight already the only four people who have followed
this procedure
did find the virus in their computer.

DO NOT, REPEAT DO NOT delete that file. It is a file used by windows as part of its function ing. Goto http://www.vmyths.com/hoax.cfm?id=257&page=3 for more info. This is a hoax. Please do not spread spam especially potentially harmful information like this without checking the facts first.

With the best of intentions we passed on the virus alert we were given this morning. However we are now advised that there should be a file called SULFNBK in the c/window/command folder. It is part of the windows operating systems to control the use of long file names. We are now advised not to delete this file.

However there apparently is a virus going about with the same file name. So if you have a second file with this name, it is likely to be the virus.

Sorry for the confusion.

OK, so what if you are running winders and you don't even have ONE file by that name?

I believe, although don't hold me to this, that the file is part of Windows 98. If you are running 95 I don't think you'll have it, the same may go for 2000.

McAfee gives the following message re: the SULFNBK hoax.

McAfee AVERT Labs would like to inform you of a new email HOAX.

This email message is just a HOAX. Although, the SULFNBK.EXE file may become infected by a number of valid viruses (most commonly W32/Magistr@MM,) the details of this HOAX message are not based on actual events.

We are advising users who receive the email to delete it and DO NOT pass it on as this is how an email HOAX propagates.

In the event that the SULFNBK.EXE file was deleted erroneously, McAfee gives a method which may be used to restore the file from backup. See http://vil.nai.com/vil/virusSummary.asp?virus_k=99084
