Old 1941 photo of this SP-T&NO 2-8-2. It was later displayed at Lafayette, Louisiana, but cut up in the 1970s. Anyone have photos of the scrapping in process?http://www.snowcrest.net/photobob/spl4.jpg

There is a SP 771 T&NO in Grapevine Texas.

According to the Conrad "bible" (Steam Loco Directory of North America), you're confusing SP 771 (earlier at Victoria, Texas, donated there 1957) with sister SP 743, which was indeed cut up at Lafayette, La. ca. 1975.A reminder that Conrad added an appendix of "post-preservation" scrapped locos in the back of his SLDNA Vol. 2. Elapsed time to cross-reference: about ten seconds to find 743 and 1.5 minutes to locate 771's original Texas home.

Correct. I was confusing the still-extant 771 with the scrapped 743. Anyone have photos of its scrapping?
