My hard drive on my nearly new computer has crashed.I had several briefs and two articles on there which hadn't been laid out for publication yet. They are supposed to come fix the computer Monday, and then I should know if I can recover the data or not.So, I don't remember the names of all the contributors, and even if I did I probably wouldn't remember your email address. So, if you sent me something and haven't heard back, or yoiu heard back but nothing's happened since, please give it a couple of days.I will notify all people if I am able to recover the data, and if not I will post here again. Thanks for your contributions.

I highly recommend this outfit for data recovery. Instead of the smoke and mirrors most outfits give you, they charge a very reasonable flat rate, and don't demand anything up front.http://www.gillware.com/JAC

I am hoping I can just slave the defective hard drive to its replacement and get the data off of it before it goes to its final resting place.....But thanks for the inputs.

Don't have a clue. Maybe if I had a four wheel leading truck instead of two.....

The lateral was no doubt tight on a new drive - not adequate room to give when you hit a low joint in the information quality or a sun kink. dave

Hume,Dont feel bad because it hapens to all of us. I am still recovering from a crashed Win 2000 setup.I think next time I will go with Linux, it has all the leading trucks and all the nice things that MS doesnt have.Linux is like a fine steam Locomotive in top running shape...Lots of work but look at how she runs...Doowoppie

I'm still driving a win98SE Mikado, slow perhaps, but it never derails.
