Bob, I think you intended to post a different link. I got the Alamosa roundhouse again. Nice photos, though.

Nice to see her out, but having seen her in steam at JT a couple of times, this is a bit melancholy. Here's hoping Andy finds the funding, or the reason to find the funding, to have her running again.Rob

Just out of curiosity, what's wrong with the 2102/what does it need to be operable?? Iknow it's been out of service for a few years now, but kind of lost track of what was going on with it. As well, where is 425?? Is that still somewhere on the property, or is it too out of service somewhere.

The last time I saw the 425 it appeared that the R&N shop forces had begun to pull it appart at Port Clinton. She was in one of the buildings and it appeared that if one of the R&N steamers was going to be restored first this would be it. It was their anniversary celebration in 2003. Nick

From what I understand the 2102 needs everything. It would obviously need the boiler work to bring it into compliance with todays FRA rules. There are some other issues with the boiler but I do not know how much it will take to repair these. The 2102 is now a high mileage engine and also needs a complete running gear rebuild to operate dependably at high speeds. If operated at slower speeds they could perhaps take some short cuts with the running gear. After this much time out of service all of the appliances will need to be gone through to return the engine to service. The last complete rebuild of the 2102 was done by the Reading in the early to mid 1950s. Like all of the other surviving T-1s the Reading had gotten most of the miles out of these rebuilds before the engines left the property. Like 2100 and 2101 which recieved the complete rebuilds they needed the 2102 and 2124 need the same work if they are to operate reliably.John Bohon
