Post subject:  Eugene, Oregon roundhouse photos

Some beautiful photos of this facility from the Tom Dill collection. The yard and shop were substantially modernized in the late-1950s, but the roundhouse remained. Scroll to the bottom of this page for one photo, and then click on Page 1 and Page 2 for more:http://spcascades.railfan.net/photosEugene.htmlThis particular photo, which we once used in L&RP, shows the potential of the site as a museum for some of the many SP steam locomotives still extant. Most all the "stuff" to recreate this scene still exists, but alas, the roundhouse was destroyed just a few years ago, though it survived long after the end of steam. Today, the diesel shop behind the roundhouse is said to be used by the shortline that now operates the former SP Siskiyou line into California.http://spcascades.railfan.net/photos/DILL/266.jpg
