Hi friends,I rode the Lehigh Gorge Scenic with my son today. This is the new operation out of Jim Thorpe, PA. I have waited my whole life to ride over the Coalport bridge, and it was great. The train is 3 ex DL&W MU cars bracketed by two ex UP SD-50's. Plenty of power. :-)This operation is off to a good start. I am working up a brief on some trips, may post here or send to Erik.By the way, the 2102 and faux CNJ F-3's are still in town along with Andy's Pullman "lehigh Gorge" and 5 extra coaches. All of George Hart's collection, and the privately owned sotck are up by the turntable. No track has been removed.Rob

our car attendant said the railroad is quite anxious to get #425 steaming on special trips out of Jim Thorpe. No plans for #2102. Rob

Hello Robert! I appreciate the great comments regarding our tourist line. The Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway has a bright future. The station was recently rennovated and we built a ticket booth below the roof on the platform. The former concession car was positioned near the station and serves as our souvenier shop (Note the mural on the side closest to the road.). The Centeral Railroad of New Jersey F-3's and Pullman "Lehigh Gorge" aren't scheduled to leave as of now, but the Reading T-1 #2102 will be moved back to Port Clinton this week.We have been using 3 cars so far, but there are six coaches available at the station. They still haven't been lettered for the LGSRy. but will be eventually. The railroad is also looking into some alternative form of motive power. At this time R&N SD50's #5017 and #5049 have hauled the train in a "push-pull" format. I'm not sure what type of locomotive may be used in the future, but the possibility of the #425 is not out of the question. This is the rebirth of tourist service on the Reading & Northern!Lehigh<>GeorgeLGSRy.<>Mascot
