Along the general lines of "how did that end up there", does anyone have the background info on how an ex-Seaboard Air Line Alco RSC-2 ended up at the Danbury Railroad Museum? I've got a place in mind, south of the Mason-Dixon line, that might be a more appropriate home-just gotta convince some folks first (and yes, do the fundraising analysis, etc, etc)....Thanks for any info!

I do recall that it is privately-owned, most likely by Ed Bowers of Texas. Ed also owns the "NYC 4096" E9 and the CN-VIA FPA-4s (A-B set) at DRM. The NH "Roger Williams" and at least two business cars/obs cars at DRM are also privately-owned.The SAL Alcos were knocking around the Northeast for a few years; there was one at New Hope (was this it?) and another was on the original Adirondack RR and is now displayed in upstate NY. It gets confusing after a while....

Is the Danbury one the purple and orange one? Let's add to the confusion with another one ( or is it the same one??) that was in use on the Western Maryland RR for that season between Showalter and 734, which I think was owned by the same outfit (Sheridan Rail-Op?) that owned the former VIA FPA4 also at WMSR for a season.Or was that ex-C&NW?Someone get me a scorecard............

The WMSR unit was ex-CNW 1689 (Sheridan/B&K Engineering's owner was once a CNW Diesel Shop Foreman). After a stint on Northern Central, it went to Cuyahoga Valley a few years ago, and is back in CNW colors. It is a six-motor RSD-5. The SAL units that are around started life as A-1-A four motor units.

The unit at Danbury is owned by Ed Bowers, it's the unit that was at the New Hope and Ivyland, privately owned at the time it was there I beleive. I forget the individual's name who owned it at New Hope. There are two RSC-2's this one and the one up in Utica which has no insides. Both came from Florida Power and Light, thats where they were painted orange and blue. I have talked with Ed about the RSC-2 in the past and he has told me it's a good unit, just needs some minor work, he said he has the tools and supplies to have it done but there currently is no immediate need to have it operating.

The WM painted (now C&NW painted) RSD-5 that is now at Cuyhoga Valley is owned by Gary Baloun, the same fellow who owns the B&O painted FPA-4 #800.
