I know they had bearing trouble on 3254 and the axles have been removed and the needed repairs are being done. Is there any chance that the work will be done for the July Tobyhanna trips or will they be pulled by the Nickleplate diesel.Thank YouAl |

The Steamtown NHS web site claims #3254 is in the Locomotive Shop for minor bearing repairs and will be out by the end of June. |

Al:I was a bit busy during the week, so I couldn't respond. CN No. 3254 was completed in its reassembly on Friday, July 1st and had a fire started around 1:00. By 4:00, she was assisted into the roundhouse by no. 2317, since she had very low steam pressure by that time. Saturday, July 2, she led the short caboose experience train in the yard, and had quite a wheeze to her, though I wasn't close enough to hear where it was coming from.On Sunday, July 3, She ran to Tobyhanna, assisted by NKP GP9 no. 514. This trip included five stops to take bearing temperatures. Arriving nearly an hour late in Tobyhanna, the decision was made to return her light. Bearing trouble is still dogging this fine engine. I wasn't at Steamtown today, so I won't speculate on her next outing. Happy 4th! |
