West Side Lumber Co. Shay 8, photographed at Georgetown, Colorado, with replica C&S bobber caboose. Apparently these haven't moved to Golden yet.http://naphotos.nerail.org/showpic/?pho ... ydate%3A41

Gavin is correct, the caboose is an original, at least that's what I recall hearing. The display is beside the GLR Inc. aka Royal Gorge Route LLC offices on Rose Street in Georgetown, a bit down the road from Silver Plume.Image

The caboose is a replica built by some folks in California for their private railroad and eventualy acquired by the former operators of the Georgetown Loop Railroad (who still own it)#1012 is a well built car that is very accurate in its replication of a C&S caboose.Jason Midyette

I stand corrected. Which means the next question is "what happened to 1006 which was left/displayed at Silver Plume when the line was lifted?" I've seen pictures of it being restored in the 1950's.G

The 1006 is still in Silver Plume and at 10' distance doesn't look too bad. The 1012 was built by Henry Sorenson in Arcata, California and acquired by the GTL Inc.JB
